Upper West Side CERT, a program of the New York City Office of Emergency Management (OEM), will host a Ready New York presentation for businesses at Artie’s Deli, 2290 Broadway (bet. W. 82 & 83 Sts.), on Monday, May 2, 2011, from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.
Owners and managers of neighborhood companies, shops, banks, buildings, community organizations, and houses of worship are invited to attend.
Professionally trained experts from OEM and CERT will talk about the basics of being prepared for an emergency by developing an exit or shelter-in-place plan.
Topics will include:
• Having an Emergency Action Plan (EAP),
• When to GO: Making an Evacuation Plan,
• When to STAY: Having a Shelter-in-Place Plan,
• Assembling a personal or companywide Go Bag
Artie’s will offer a deli tasting at the event. Among the presenters will be Ira Tannenbaum, NYC OEM director of Public/Private Initiative; Shelly Fine, Upper West Side CERT team chief; and Ian Alterman, Ready New York presenter. A stocked, personal Go-Bag will be raffled off at the end of the presentation. Event sponsors include Artie’s, State Farm, and Citibank.
