UWS CERT Receives 2015 Citywide Deployment Award

In a recognition ceremony last night, Upper West Side CERT (M7) was presented with the 2015 Citywide Deployment Award by Commissioner Joseph J. Esposito and the NYC Emergency Management Department. The award recognizes the team’s outstanding performance in responding to recent crises, including the East Village and East Harlem gas explosion disasters, and the Ebola outbreak.

Mayor Bloomberg Presides Over Graduation Ceremony for 103 Community Emergency Response Team Volunteers

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg today joined Office of Emergency Management (OEM) Commissioner Joseph F. Bruno, Police (NYPD) Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly, Fire (FDNY) Commissioner Salvatore J. Cassano and the City’s Chief Service Officer Diahann Billings-Burford in presiding over a graduation ceremony for 103 new Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteers.

It’s the Final Leg of Training for NYC CERT’s Cycle 15 Recruits

On a chilly November night last week, half of the NYC CERT Cycle 15 graduating class performed their final exercise, a post-disaster rescue operation. First responder volunteers and OEM leaders set the stage with CERT team members volunteering as victims. The scenario will be recreated on December 6 when the remaining half of the graduating class are put through their paces.

New Graduates Join the Ranks of NYC CERT

On January 6, 2010, the NYC CERT family grew by 78 as new graduates from Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens were welcomed by city officials at a ceremony hosted by the New York City Police Academy.
